Geraldina Dominguez and Robert Yarchoan<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.cancer.gov\/about-nci\/organization\/oham__;!!LQC6Cpwp!8B5BX-t7jQR0syy68Kpib3Ast3YNFw9MBoBeDMdypI1X29aNUIZkWQgmIKvZgFDL47vUXg$\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Office of HIV and AIDS Malignancy<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dear Colleague:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Office of HIV and AIDS Malignancy (OHAM) in the National Cancer Institute is hosting a virtual workshop on\u00a0<b>Wednesday, October 13, 2021<\/b>\u00a0from 10 AM-5:30 PM EST to discuss the need, potential, and feasibility of developing a vaccine against Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), also called human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8).\u00a0 \u00a0The focus of the workshop will be on vaccines to prevent initial infection or prevent the development of disease,\u00a0<b>NOT<\/b>\u00a0on a therapeutic vaccine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If successful, development of this vaccine could prevent the development of KSHV-associated tumors and other disorders including Kaposi sarcomas (KS), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), and KSHV-multicentric Castleman disease (KSHV-MCD).\u00a0 However, it has been pointed out that there would likely be challenges in developing, testing, and implementing such a vaccine.\u00a0 The aim of this workshop is to have a broad discussion of these issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Please note that this is a scientific workshop to exchange information and enhance our understanding of the issues.
